Repairing a Kenmore Dishwasher without Busting Your Wallet

When your Kenmore dishwasher breaks, you want to do everything you can to avoid having to buy a completely new one. This may not always be possible, if a certain part of the dishwasher has broken beyond repair. But you should always make every effort to replace the troublesome parts. This involves first locating the problem, and then tracking down the official Kenmore part that you need. This isn’t easy for someone without a great technical knowledge of dishwashers, but if you look for a few key signs then you will be able to find out if a certain thing is misbehaving.

First, you need to understand the cycle of a dishwasher. First, the dishes are sprayed with high-power soapy water streams to dislodge the chunks of food and kill the germs on the dishes. Next all of the water and waste is drained out and the plates are rinsed off again, and then dried off. All of the components of the dishwasher work together to allow all of this to happen, and if one part goes bad then you will end up opening the dishwasher to a bunch of plates that are still dirty. This is always an unpleasant surprise to find.

Judging by the condition of the plates when you remove them, you can sometimes determine where in the cycle the dishwasher ended up malfunctioning. If the dishes still have large amounts of food chunks on them, then you can assume that there is something wrong with the spraying of the water streams that are meant to dislodge the chunks. If you open the dishwasher and you see clean but wet dishes, there is probably something wrong with the drying cycle, and this will help you further pinpoint the problem.

If you call Kenmore technical support to try and get help in repairing your dishwasher, these observations can help you to help them. If they know what part of the cycle is causing trouble for the dishwasher, they will be able to zero in on what part is causing the problem quicker. Often the company will want to charge you to repair it, but it is much better if you simply find out what you need to do and do it yourself. You can order the part from the company, or better yet from another vendor, and get to work making your dishwasher work again.
